Grants 2008The Lanark Public Library is among the libraries receiving grants awarded by the Secretary of State and State Librarian, Jesse White, through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). "LSTA funds encourage our libraries to be creative and innovative," White said. "Illinois librarians work hard to look ahead and identify specific local needs and use these funds to address those needs. These grants help provide our librarians with some of the financial resources they need to remain our state's most reliable sources of information." "Capturing an Era- One Room Schoolhouse Narratives"The Lanark Public Library has received a grant for $24,999, "Capturing an Era- One Room Schoolhouse Narratives." The Lanark Public Library and the Carroll County Historical Society are spearheading an oral history project to capture the experience of students and their teachers in one room schoolhouses before the memories are lost for good. "One Title, Many Ways"The Lanark Public Library also received $4,500 for "One Title, Many Ways."
