Several not-for-profit clubs, organizations and services, in and around Lanark, find it harder to find volunteers to assist them in providing beneficial programs and services to the area. Volunteerism is becoming more important with today’s economic times, government budget restraints, a large portion of our population reaching retirement age.

Why volunteer? Volunteering makes a positive impact on the community; it strengthens the community and makes it more resilient to economic downturns or natural disasters and helps a community recover more rapidly; it improves the lives of your neighbors; bring fulfillment to your own life; helps to unify the community; and allows you to make connections you might not have the opportunity to make otherwise.

Who is in need of volunteers?

Ø  Community Clubs and organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Community Club

Ø  Community Assistance such as the Food Pantry, Pitter Patter Pantry, Senior Services

Ø  Faith-based organizations and churches

Ø  Youth groups and organizations such as Scouts, music and sports boosters, Servant Leaders

Ø  Veterans groups such as the VFW and American Legion

Ø  Many others
